Coach Courtney began coaching at Farragut in 2010, spending one year at Carson-Newman as a WR coach in 2012. He served as an assistant at Farragut for fifteen years and offensive coordinator for seven years before becoming head coach of the Admirals in 2024.

Coach Courtney was recognized as the 2022 Assistant Coach of the Year for Class 6A from the Tennessee Football Coaches Association. A 2010 graduate of The University of Tennessee, where he was also a member of the Vols football team from 2006-2009. He is a 2006 Graduate of Farragut and a former member of the Admiral football team from 2002-2006. He and his wife, Taylor, have a daughter, Charley (5).
